[O02-P04] Geoscience as "Art": Practice and its perplexities

★Invited Papers

*Kazuki Ide1,2,3, Kikoh Matsuura3 (1.Center for Infectious Disease Education and Research (CiDER), The University of Osaka, 2.Research Center on Ethical, Legal and Social Issues, The University of Osaka, 3.N/A)

Keywords:artistic practice, art and science, value

The authors have so far explored the intersection of science and art through the production of photographic and installation works as a unit (N/A). As practical examples, they will discuss the background and intentions behind projects such as “(An)onymous” (2022–)—a series that develops artworks based on microplastics collected from the beach—and “chromosome, ancient” (2023), which connects chromosomes and life to the spatiality of exhibition spaces (this work was exhibited at Tokyo Tower). In addition, the results of prototyping conducted for the presentation at JpGU 2025 will be introduced. Relying on these projects, the discussion will address the perplexities and the utility of the terms “science” and “art,” and will further debate the nature of “interaction,” the topic of this session.
