[O11-P19] The Classification by Meteor's Emission Line Intensity Ratios 2025 vol.1

*Yuto Imada1, *Kazuyuki Ishigami1, Saki Tsunoda1, Suzuki Haruna1 (1.Ichinomiya High School)

Keywords:Meteor, Emission Line Intensity, Spectral Analysis

Two years ago, research conducted by our school's senior students revealed that meteor spectra vary depending on the meteor shower. Based on this finding, we hypothesized that categorizing meteor showers according to the elemental composition of their meteors could indirectly lead to a better understanding of the elements present in the parent comet of each shower. Additionally, we believed that analyzing their chemical composition could provide valuable insights into the activity of their parent bodies.
To test this, we analyzed footage of meteors and measured the intensity ratios of spectral emission lines. We categorized the meteors by plotting the emission intensity ratios of sodium, magnesium, and iron on a triangular graph. Since meteors from the Perseid meteor shower were observed, we conducted classification and analysis specifically for the Perseids. Furthermore, we later incorporated data from the Orionid meteor shower for additional discussion and comparison.
