[O11-P53] Optimal design of slit dams for sustainable sediment management in Shizuoka Forest Park

*Keigo Katsuya1, Tomoya Miyano1 (1.Hamamatsu Gakugei High school)

Keywords:erosion control, slit dams

This study examined sediment management methods using slit dams to solve excessive sediment runoff at small steps in Shizuoka Forest Park. Model experiments were conducted by changing the slit shape and the ratio of sediment grain size to slit width in order to maintain an appropriate amount of sediment runoff. The results showed that the slit shape has a significant effect on the sediment discharge rate. Furthermore, numerical calculations yielded important findings regarding the height, number, and location of dams. The results of this study can be applied to the management of the sediment cycle from rivers to the ocean, and may contribute to the formation of natural landforms and the conservation of the marine environment. In the future, we will elucidate the causes of the differences in slit shape and aim to optimize the interaction of multiple dams when they are installed to achieve appropriate sediment management.
