There are a lot of incorrect names of lunar features in Japanese. The most incorrect one is "Mare Frigoris" in Latin. This is translated to "Sea of Ice" but "Sea of Cold" is correct. The misstranslation have been originated in the "Tenmon-Nenkan" in 1931, edited by Issei Yamamoto. However this mistake is corrected in the 2025 version of "Tenmon-Nenkan" and "Hoshizora-Nenkan".
