In this study, a new regularization method called group lasso is introduced to magnetic-gravity joint inversion. Group lasso is a regularization method in which model elements can be divided into several groups (clusters), and the elements belonging to each group are constrained to take zero or non-zero values together. The regularization method is to constrain the elements belonging to a group to take zero or non-zero values. Recently, an analysis method called structural coupling, such as cross gradient, has been proposed for multidata joint inversion. Group lasso is a method that can provide both structural coupling and model sparsity at the same time.
In this presentation, we present the details of the proposed method and the results of applying the method to gravity and magnetic anomaly data obtained from synthetic tests and the Hiraniwa plutonic rocks in the Kitakami Belt. We also report the results of three-component magnetic inversion by applying group lasso to the three components of magnetization in each block.
