[SVC33-P11] Monitoring Volcanoes with InSAR: Insights into Earthquake-Volcano Coupling and Deformation Dynamics

Our work investigates volcano deformation using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data from Sentinel-1, with a focus on detecting earthquake-triggered eruptions and magmatic unrest. By generating time series of superficial deformation above volcanoes using MintPy and MiaplPy software, we analyze different globally distributed volcanoes—Ecuador, Papua New Guinea, Guatemala, and Japan—to explore the connections between seismic events and volcanic activity. Preliminary findings reveal that significant earthquakes have triggered periods of activity and deformation at two of the studied volcanoes. In contrast, others, including some that remain inactive, show minimal or no detectable changes.
