Keywords:Multi-Hazards, Geophysical hazards, Anthropogenic Processes, Resilience

Societal resilience to geophysical and anthropogenic hazards—volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, landslides, and human-induced environmental changes—depends not only on the capacity to recover but also on the ability to anticipate and adapt to future events. Strengthening resilience requires an interdisciplinary approach that integrates geoscience with social, economic, and policy frameworks. This presentation explores the role of multi-hazard scenario development in enhancing preparedness and response strategies. By incorporating hazard interactions, cascading impacts, and scenario-based planning, we can better inform decision-making across multiple sectors. Using case examples from the Philippines, Kenya, Türkiye, and Nepal, this presentation highlights how scenario-based methods can support adaptive policies, community engagement, and long-term resilience-building efforts. The discussion will emphasise the need for cross-disciplinary collaboration, bridging geoscience with governance, infrastructure planning, and social sciences to develop innovative, actionable solutions for reducing risk and enhancing resilience.
