This paper reviews the Muscat Declaration on Global Knowledge issued on the occasion of the Muscat Global Knowledge Dialogue held at Muscat, Oman, on 26-28 January 2025. The Global Knowledge Dialogue was an initiative of the International Science Council to consider key issues at the science-society and science-policy interfaces. In principle, the Declaration highlights science as a global public good. The statement acknowledges disparities in research capacity and the evolving scientific landscape, emphasizing the role of science in promoting justice, peace, and sustainability. Key actions include defending scientific freedom, maintaining global collaboration, and protecting scientists, especially in crises. It also advocates for interdisciplinary research on sustainability, inequality, and pollution while urging investment in under-resourced regions. It calls for reforms in scientific systems, higher education, and responsible use of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.

In the context of open and FAIR science, the Declaration promotes open science, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building to strengthen science’s role in policymaking and diplomacy. It underscores the need for diversity and inclusivity in science governance, reaffirming that science can unite societies and drive global progress.
