More than a decade has passed since the operation of the Japanese lunar orbiter Kaguya (SELENE), and its physical, chemical, and geological data have provided one of the global standards in lunar science. Furthermore, exploration missions by various national agencies - such as SLIM, the Chandrayaan series, LRO, LCROSS, LADEE, and the Chang'e series - together with ground-based observations, as well as analyses of Apollo, Luna, Chang'e samples, and lunar meteorites, have been contributing to the advance in lunar science to date. At present, countries around the world, including Japan, are actively advancing plans for the next-generation lunar exploration, including lander missions and sample-return projects. To further advance our understanding of the Moon and promote future missions, this session welcomes a wide range of contributions toward building a new lunar science, including research results derived from lunar exploration data, discussions on future lunar exploration programs such as LUPEX, proposals for the analysis of upcoming exploration data, related theoretical and experimental studies, results from lunar sample analyses, and developments in onboard instruments.
