The promotion of renewable energy has been promoted in recent years as part of climate change countermeasures. For example, various laws such as the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) system have been established, and the adoption of solar power generation has progressed rapidly.
Nevertheless, climate change is accelerating and affects energy utilization efficiency. Furthermore, with the development of renewable energy, there are cases where development has had a negative impact on the surrounding natural environment. Then, the JPGU Environmental Disaster Response Committee started this session in FY2025. In FY2025, we discussed the impact of climate change on power generation efficiency, especially on solar power generation.
In this session in 2026, given that climate change countermeasures are an urgent issue for citizens, we will discuss the challenges of introducing renewable energy, including its relationship with climate change and issues in civil engineering and applied geology, as well as introduce examples of local government initiatives and global trends. Through these efforts, we hope to provide citizens with an opportunity to widely communicate the future vision of renewable energy introduction and to think about it together.
