[M-IS22] New frontiers in geology

Thu. May 28, 2026 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM Exhibition Hall Special Setting (3) (Exhibition Hall 7&8, Makuhari Messe)

Chairperson:Tsujimori Tatsuki(Tohoku University), Komiya Tsuyoshi(Department of Earth Science & Astronomy Graduate School of Arts and Sciences The University of Tokyo)

Geology has long been basic science for various academic fields from planetology to regional science, and has also played an important role as a frontier science. Recently, in addition to conventional relationship with tectonics, petrology, and the evolution of life on earth, geological knowledge has come to be emphasized more and more in other fields such as planetary exploration, exoplanets, and urban disasters. In this session, we will provide opportunity to facilitate discussions about the latest research on geology with active researchers in a wide variety of academic fields. Geological research topics related to various fields such as planetary science, tectonics, igneous/metamorphic petrology, stratigraphy/paleontology, evolution, environmental studies, and geochemistry are welcomed.
