The disastrous tsunamis caused by the 2004 Sumatra earthquake and the 2011 Tohoku earthquake accelerated tsunami researches in various fields. In recent years, researches on non-seismic tsunamis have also been actively conducted, including landslide tsunamis from the 2018 Sulawesi earthquake and the Anak Krakatau volcanic eruption, as well as tsunami-like waves generated by the atmospheric pressure waves from the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcanic eruption. This session covers tsunamis generated by any mechanisms and welcomes a wide range of presentations from the fields of science (e.g., geology and geophysics), engineering, and disaster prevention. This includes researches on tsunami generation and propagation theory, studies utilizing observation data such as instrumental tsunami records and tsunami deposits (both modern and paleo), and prediction and risk assessment researches aimed at mitigating future tsunami disasters.
