[S-TT49] Synthetic Aperture Radar and its application

Fri. May 29, 2026 5:15 PM - 7:00 PM Poster Hall (Exhibition Hall 7&8, Makuhari Messe)

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data is an essential basic dataset for monitoring the Earth system and compiling observation reports. Recent trends in SAR include launching the next-generation SAR satellites, such as ALOS-4 and NISAR; constructing small SAR constellations by the private sector; and improving data accessibility through an open, full, and free data policies. Furthermore, the development of new SAR platforms, including portable ground-based SAR and unmanned aerial vehicle-based SAR, allows us to improve the observation flexibility and data acquisition frequency. The application of artificial intelligence enables us to identify potential signals that would be impossible for humans to identify. SAR data acquired since the 1990s has been used to elucidate phenomena lasting for a long time. We welcome presentations on a wide range of topics, from basic research to applications using SAR data, and look forward to sharing and discussing the future perspective of SAR data.
