[M-GI29] Learning from the past to forecast the future environment, climate, and hazards in Pacific Islands

Thu. May 28, 2026 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM International Conference Room (IC) (International Conference Hall, Makuhari Messe)

Chairperson:Goto Kazuhisa(Department of Earth and Planetary Science, The University of Tokyo), Yamazaki Atsuko(Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University), Ichihara Mie(Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo), Carey Rebecca(University of Tasmania)

Past and recent environment, climate, and hazards in the Pacific Islands are of great interest not only to Earth Scientists but also to many other disciplines such as anthropologists and archaeologists. However, because of its high degree of interdisciplinarity, it is often not easy to grasp the overall picture. The main target of this session is to welcome any researchers who have worked on environment, climate and hazards in the Pacific Islands to contribute and share their findings.
