[A-OS21] [JJ] The dynamics of freshwater discharge - rivers, estuaries, and along coasts
Mon. May 22, 2017 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Poster Hall (International Exhibition Hall HALL7)
convener:Shinichiro Kida(Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University), Dai Yamazaki(JAMSTEC - Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), Yoshimasa Matsumura(Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, University of Tokyo), Yosuke Yamashiki(Global Water Resources Assessment Laboratory - Yamashiki Laboratory Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability Kyoto University)
The water cycle from land to the ocean involves complex dynamics of rivers
and buoyancy driven flows through estuaries and along coasts. Recent
progress in satellite observations and numerical models are beginning to
illuminate how this water cycle occurs on the global scale and the regional
scale. We welcome studies that investigate various phenomena related to the
freshwater cycle from land to the ocean such as surface runoff, river flow
variability, estuarine circulation including delta and salt marsh, and
coastal river plumes based on numerical, observational, or theoretical
studies. This session will be jointly held with the international session
"Continental-Oceanic Mutual Interaction: Global-scale Material Circulation
through River Runoff".
