[Abstract]
[Introduction]
Recent years, digitalization has been expected to improve efficiency in the dental field, including denture fabrication. We developed a digital denture system that enables the fabrication of dentures with improved accuracy and efficiency. The system consists of an intraoral scanner (IOS) and a desktop scanner (DOS). and two methods are used for denture fabrication: 3D printing and milling.
[Case Summary and Treatment Details]
A 81-year-old woman was referred to our clinic from another clinic with the chief complaint that her lower denture was floating and she could not chew properly. We fabricated a new denture using a 3D-printed individual tray to obtain impressions and occlusal records. The digital model was then created, and the final denture was also fabricated using 3D printing.
[Progress and Discussion]
Digital denture systems that do not require plaster models can fabricate dentures in a short period of time. In this case, the final denture was fabricated in 1 week with three visits, and the patient was very satisfied. [References] 1) Goodacre BJ, Goodacre CJ, Baba NZ, Kattadiyil MT.
