[EP-5] A NOVEL DEVICE FOR RECORDING ORIENTATION JAW RELATION AND DETERMINING OCCLUSAL PLANE

[Abstract]
Objective:
To record orientation jaw relation and occlusal plane for successful prosthodontic rehabilitation

Method:
An innovative device was designed to determine the orientation jaw relation and occlusal plane together. It is an amalgamation of facebow and occlusal plane analyser. Trials were done on twenty completely edentulous patients and they were successfully rehabilitated with removable complete dentures. The device made the clinical step easy as it amalgamates both steps and it was non-cumbersome. The traditional facebows are complex and becoming obsolete in practice.

Results and Discussion:
The device successfully and precisely registered the orientation jaw relation and occlusal plane together. The device can be used to transfer the record to any semi-adjustable articulator thereby providing an advantage to the prosthodontist for successful rehabilitation. The device is still in incipient and in early stages of research and development but early results show its promising usage.
