[Abstract]
[Introduction]
Patients with craniofacial anomalies present with complex facial deformities requires expertise of interdiciplinary approach. The use of prosthetic serve big role in rehabilation process. 1,2 In the past two decades, digital technology has been progressively overcoming technical difficulties in maxillofacial prosthetic fabrication, combined with conventional method for optimizing the outcomes of facial prosthetic rehabilitation.3,4
[Case Summary and Treatment Details]
a 48 years old male patient was reffered to Prosthodontic Clinic Universitas Airlangga Dental Hospital after hemimaxillectomy and resection of nasal and orbital dextra due to reccurent basal cell carcinoma. Surgical reconstruction has been carried out, leaving large defect in madifacial region. Intraoral founding was Aramany class IV deffect with carious remaining teeth. Maxillary hollow-bulb obturator was selected to close the maxillary deffect. 3D scanner used as impression for facial region due to prolonged post-surgical wound healing. The facial prosthesis 3D model was reconstructed before printed using 3D printer. Then, the medical grade silicone preparation and coloration was prepared with conventional technique to achieve better aesthetic result.
[Progress and Discussion]
Conventional technique were used to fabricate the hollowbulb obturator due to limitation of mouth opening post-op. The obturator has good retention and stabilization. It is also provide the nutrition support and rehabilitation process.5 3D technique combined with conventional method to maximized the efficacy and gain the optimum aesthetic result. Facial prosthesis has good adaptation and aesthetic. This combination technique may be used as a treatment option for the better management of large intraoral and facial deffect. 1,3
