[IPROSI-3] ProNasale’- A Nasal Impression Assembly And Method Of Intra/Extra-Nasal Impressions

[Abstract]
[Introduction]
To introduce the invention(1) entitled, "ProNasale' ", a nasal impression assembly along with its novel method of impression of extra-nasal and/or intra-nasal structures.
[Case Summary and Treatment Details]
The invention includes nasal tips with injectable parts for intra nasal impression records and extra-nasal mesh for splinting extra nasal impression records. The depth of recorded nasal cavities on model were compared with scans of intra oral scanner (IOS - DWIOC, Dental wings inc.) and model scanner (Model scanner - DWOS, Dental wings 3 series inc.). The scanned images of the model were calibrated on Exocad.
[Progress and Discussion]
Majority of failures of nasal prosthesis are due to inadequate nasal records. Silastic with blotting paper,(2) intra nasal hollow impression compound inserts, (3) or a stainless steel ball pen were priorly used for physical nasal impression records. CT scan of nose (4) can create virtual nasal models with few limitations. "ProNasale' is able to record the complete depth of nasal cavities. The convenience of recording a single nostril and/or the complete intra nasal and extra nasal record and smooth impression removal with maintenance of nasal anatomical relationship reflects the quality enhancement break through in the fields of maxillofacial prosthodontics and orolaryngology with this device. Thus, it can be concluded that ProNasale' provides a convenient, reliable, advanced, valid and standardized stock item globally, that can improve the outcome as well provide diversity in fabrication techniques of nasal prosthesis.
