In this study, we investigated the effect of aural signals on preventing passersby from leaving doors open. We conducted experiments at a walkway at Osaka University frequently used by students. We played a convenience store's entrance chime when passersby opened the door, and observed their immediate behaviors. The results indicated that the sounds were effective in preventing passersby from leaving the doors.
