In recent years, social research methods using big data and computational methods in a broad sense have been developed in social sciences. These methods are not limited to analytical methods that use observation data such as digital traces, but also include new survey methods that use digital infrastructure, digital experiments, and online field experiments. The purpose of this presentation is to identify the potential and challenges of digital society research by examining the methods, background theory, and actual research examples used there.
