[2H1-OS-21-04] A new method for the individual identification of cattle from vocalizations considering age-related changes in acoustic features
Keywords:individual identification, cattle sound, age-related changes
In order to reduce the time and effort of the individual identification, a method for easily identifying individuals of animals using ICT has been required. Our research has used animal vocalizations as one of the resources useful for individual identification. In this paper, we extract various kinds of acoustic information suitable for individual identification of cattle, and clear age-related changes in acoustic features between cattle and heifer to identify individuals. The identification rate of 10 cows using the extracted acoustic features was 96.17%. It is clear that the acoustic information employed in the study is effective not only for identifying individuals of the same age but also for individuals of different ages.
