[4D3-GS-12-05] Activating discussions in VR conference by dual-layer gamification

We have proposed DERC, a conceptual platform of gamified systems with a dual layer structure for promoting reciprocity-based cooperation in targeted social contexts. Level 1 aims at promoting altruistic behavior by game elements (e.g. points and levels). Level 2 aims to promote altruistic behavior of others in which a betting mechanism is used. If the betted player obtains points by altruistic action, the bettor gets points. This study introduces DERC into VR space dedicated for discussion. We find that the system can realize fruitful discussion. We also find that the clarity of the acquisition points leads to the improvement of the motivation for discussion.
