[4N2-OS-26a-05] A Conceptual Analysis of Social Acceptance
for AI Ethics
Keywords:Emerging Technologies, Ethics, Social Acceptance, ELSI
The purpose of this talk is twofold. 1) Promote collaboration and communication in areas that require interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, such as artificial intelligence technology, by presenting concept analysis and classification of social acceptance and similar concepts. 2) Introducing this classification will clarify ethical issues that may not have been overlooked in discussions on ELSI and social acceptance. For these purposes, we introduce Benham Taebi's distinction between the concepts of social acceptance and ethical acceptability and develop a modified version of the distinction. By introducing domains of economy and technology level in addition to ethics to the concept of acceptability, it is possible to clarify the conflict between domains of acceptability. This clarification allows for a more detailed discussion of the ethical issues of artificial intelligence.
