[4P2-GS-6-01] Analysis of hesitetion within response behavior in Web survey
Keywords:behaviormetrics, soscial survey, response time, paradata
In questionnaire surveys, respondents sometimes hesitate between choices when answering a question. This may be because the answer hides a respondent’s intention. In this case, the conclusion may change when the answers are changed. Furthermore, we assumed that hesitation causes the respondent to take more time to answer questions. We considered some factors that lead to hesitation and asked questions regarding feelings of shame and public morals based on these factors. We also asked some questions that do not cause hesitation. In addition, we asked a "look back question" or respondents to evaluate whether they hesitated or not. We conducted this web survey and obtained data about answering time. Finally, we used the survey results to verify the occurrence of hesitation and evaluated it quantitatively.
