[4Rin1-43] Demand driven bus system for commuting, which does not require a precise demand forecast
Keywords:Public transportation, Demand bus, Routing, Benders Decomposition Method
This study provides a novel demand driven bus system for morning commute, which does not require a precise demand forecast. In the proposed system, each user bits his/her willingness-to-pay to ride a bus from each bus stop to the central business district (CBD). This system assumes a company that has a fixed number of buses. For simplicity, it ignores demand fluctuations depending on the commuting hour and determines the route based on the user's desired commuting cost. This model is formulated as an operation route and price optimization problem, and by using Benders decomposition, we break it down into a master problem that determining route and a sub-problem that matching buses and user.
