The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of similarity in interpersonal cognition as a measure to improve human trust in Artificial Intelligence. Nowadays AI-powered systems are being used in a variety of services. However, many obstacles have arisen in modern society regarding the use of AI, especially because of lack of trust in AI, so we need to take measures to increase the level of trust. In this context, previous studies have shown that emotional means, partifically the similarity of interpersonal cognition, is effective for trust. And it’s possible to apply interpersonal trust theory to AI. In light of the above, this study examined the possibility that similarity in interpersonal cognition can serve as a bridge of trust between humans and AI, using a trust game. This study suggests how similarity in interpersonal cognition can be used to address the lack of trust in AI by humans.
