This study examines how particularistic trust in AI is formed when receiving feedback (FB) from that AI, about general trust (GT). AI-FB is expected to improve the quality of evaluations and increase employee productivity. However, it has been pointed out that employees may negatively perceive AI-FB. In this situation, trust in the AI as an evaluator is necessary for the evaluated. Hayashi and Shigemasu (2015) found people with high GT interpret the positive aspects of negative feedback (NF) rather than the negative aspects, and they see NF positively and trust the evaluator strongly. We hypothesized GT would have a similar effect on the unpleasant feelings felt by the AI-evaluator, and examine how GT would affect their assessment of particularistic trust in the AI. Then, it suggests that GT is related to particularistic trust even when the evaluator is an AI. This study has implications for AI-FB in real business organizations.
