[3B3-GS-11-05] Support for instructors using students’ feeling-notification system during class
Keywords:In class, support, feelings
In the recent corona disaster, it has been difficult for instructors to provide appropriate guidance to students. They cannot always see their facial expressions through masks or grasp students who do not understand well the class content. In this study, to improve the communication problem in the educational field, we developed "MaskForce," a system for notifying students' feelings during class. MaskForce consists of a tiny device clipped to the student's mask connected to a sensor measuring pulse interval at the ear lobe and communicates it to the class instructor's information terminal. The feeling of each student is estimated by pulse variability analysis, and notified visually in real-time. The instructor can track which student has difficulties and provide support at appropriate timing. Small-scale experiments showed MaskForce is promising to improve understanding of the class contents and the efficiency of accomplishing the tasks.
