[4Yin2-13] Analysis of the Cognitive Process of Acquiring Skills for Video Production

In order to produce high quality video, high-spec computers and applications need to be used, and practitioners need to learn the skills of video production. The purpose of this study is to clarify the cognitive process of skills acquisition by focusing on the reports of learners who aim to acquire the skills of video production. As a method, 4 Novice college students with no experience in computer-based video editing participated as research collaborators, and product video for approximately three months. After the video production practice, learners were instructed to "freely input their current impressions into Microsoft Forms, including what they learned, noticed, and thought about through the video production practice. As an evaluation of learners' proficiency in video production, we examined the changes in self-evaluation. As a result of analyzing the language reports, reports were categorized into four major categories, "Questions and Errors," "Understanding and Awareness," "Skill Acquisition," and "Others," and eight sub-categories. From the discussion, it was shown that as a common cognitive process in video production, knowledge is acquired and skills are developed through repeated questions and errors related to video editing. And, it was suggested that being overly conscious of the audience may have a negative effect on the learners.
