[4Yin2-25] An Attempt on Melody Generation towards Computer-aided Improvisation

This paper reports an experiment on generating melodies from melodic outlines. We previously developed an improvisation system called JamSketch, which generates melodies from user-drawn melodic outlines. To improve this melody generation process, we conducted an experiment on melody generation with convolutional neural networks. The results imply that blues-like melodies can be genrated with an appropriate filter setting.
