A Phenomenological and Enactive Approach

It is generally assumed that other people's minds are invisible. As a result, it is believed that an inference or simulation is necessary. However, there is a claim that we can "see" other people's minds directly in their physical behavior and interactions with them. This is called "direct social perception" (DSP), a concept found in phenomenology and related fields. From this perspective, if AI and robots can achieve behavior indistinguishable from that of humans (beyond a certain level), we will be forced to see them as a "subject" with whom we can interact. In my talk, I will consider enactive intersubjective interaction as a condition for making DSP possible and discuss the possibility that a certain "precariousness" plays an essential role in it.
