The “Majikami AI” system has been developed to assist inexperienced caregivers in assessing and caring for care recipients based on the skills of expert caregivers called “Majikami”. Eye tracking of professional caregivers during information gathering using a care record system implementing the Majikami AI module and interviews were conducted to improve the system. Majikami caregivers identified the noteworthy period using the Majikami AI module. The module displayed the occurrence and assumed background of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) determined by daily records. They explored the actual background of BPSD by checking the data summary page. Most non-Majikami caregivers looked mainly at individual daily records. Few non-Majikami caregivers gathered information similar to Majikami caregivers and assessed the care recipient appropriately. The results suggest that the Majikami AI system can help caregivers assess care recipients and that education increases its effective use.
