[1Win4-15] Proposal of Wikipedia category ontology for representing Wikipedia category structure
Structured representation of Wikipedia category name using ancecstor category names
Keywords:Wikipedia, ontology
Wikipedia categories serve as a framework for hierarchical classification of Wikipedia articles and have been used to create knowledge resources such as the Japanese Wikipedia Ontology. However, the parent-child relationships among Wikipedia categories include some relationships for which the transitive rule does not hold, making their proper use difficult. To address this problem, we have proposed the Wikipedia Category Ontology, which organizes the parent-child relationships among categories and their types. Based on our previous work, we propose a method to represent categories in a more usable form, which is a method to represent related categories and their relationships for categories created by combining multiple categories. This method allows us to identify categories and characteristic constraints for estimating the class to which an article belongs without traversing the category hierarchy.
