[2D5-GS-9-05] A framework for utterance decision on driving support agent
Keywords:driving support agent, conversational strategy
In this study, we introduce a framework for making utterance decisions to assist drivers in driving support agents. In our previous experimental studies aimed at designing acceptable utterances for driving support agents, we have shown the effectiveness of linguistic consideration strategies in giving instructions to drivers. However, there was no framework that showed a specific policy for driving support agents to decide on utterances, and discussions assuming practical application were limited. In the proposed framework, the utterances of the driving support agent are decided based on the driving situation expressed on the three axes of the driver's psychological state, the sensor's confidence level, and the emergency level, and on the driving support utterance syntax based on the three elements of environment, action, and lingistic hedge. This is expected to realize a driving support agent that can make acceptable utterance decisions that take into account the driver's psychological state while ensuring the appropriateness of support for the driving situation.
