[2F1-GS-10-01] Evaluation of Educational Effects in Inquiry-Based Learning Using Mentor AI

The purpose of this study is to examine the educational effects of a mentoring system utilizing generative AI in Inquiry-Based Learning. We have been developing Mentor AI specialized in mentoring skills.
This paper investigates the impact of using Mentor AI during comprehensive inquiry time on high school students' exploratory activities and the development of their qualities and abilities.
The study was conducted over six months during the comprehensive inquiry period, with 84 public high school students participating in surveys at three different points in time.
Results indicated instances where high school students were able to autonomously advance their exploratory activities through insights gained from Mentor AI; additionally, the continued use of Mentor AI is expected to deepen thinking and has been confirmed to partially substitute teachers' instructional skills.
