Keywords:Large Language Models

This study examines the impact of proficiency level-based lexical constraints on machine translation using large language models.
The results indicated that translation with such lexical constraints faced difficulties generating meaningful sentences due to an insufficient vocabulary limited by the constraints, while unconstrained translation generated fluent and natural sentences.
We also observed serious under-translation phenomena in some sentences.
Despite the presence of omissions, automatic quantitative evaluation revealed that COMET scores for the constrained translation exceeded those for unconstrained translation.
