[4Q3-OS-23-03] Some models for ethics of Death-bots

〇Keisuke Sato1 (1. Sophia University)

Keywords:Death-bot, Ethics, Trust

This study reveals that there can be more than one model for constructing ethical norms regarding technologies that recreate the dead through generative AI. Broadly speaking, three types of ethical models exist among the critics of dead AI. First, Lindemann et al. consider ethics from the perspective of the dead AI's direct relationship with its users; second, Hollanek et al. consider ethics from the perspective of the impact of dead AI on the image of the dead shared within society; and third, Buitelaar et al. consider ethics from the perspective of the dignity and rights of the dead themselves. This study shows that, as a premise for considering practical guidelines for AI of the dead, it is first necessary to recognize that there are multiple ethical models, and that these models need to be considered in combination.
