[13p-2E-2] Spatial Resolution Enhancement in Confocal Imaging using Longitudinal Electric Field

In this study, we report a new method to improve the detection efficiency of the scattered field caused by the longitudinal component of a tightly focused beam by means of the polarization conversion of the scattered field. By applying this method to confocal imaging, we present the possibility of the spatial-resolution enhancement in the confocal imaging when we tightly focus a higher-order radially polarized beam, which can produce a smaller focal spot at the focus.
