△ [13p-2F-16] Femtosecond laser ablation of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid): Wavelength dependence of biodegradability
Keywords:laser processing,polymer,femtosecond laser
Since poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) is a biodegradable polymer which exhibits excellent biocompatibility, it is attractive as scaffolds in tissue engineering. Tissue scaffolds are desired to promote anagenesis and degrade in the body as tissue undergoes regeneration. Thus techniques to control the biodegradability of polymers are being widely studied. We irradiate femtosecond laser pulses with different wavelength onto the PLGA surface and evaluate its biodegradability by measuring the ratio of remaining weight to the initial weight. The results indicate the controllability of biodegradation by applying different incident laser wavelength.
