△ [14a-2S-8] Highly Sensitive Terahertz Sensing using High-Q Photonic Crystal Cavity

Application of terahertz waves to spectroscopic sensing have attracted much attention because of their discriminative interaction with matters including proteins, DNA and pharmaceutical chemicals. Enhanced the sensitivity for detection of small amounts or low concentrations of substances is required to develop new applications in various fields. Here we propose and investigate the use of a high-Q photonic-crystal dielectric cavity to enhance the sensitivity instead of conventional metal-based resonators with low Q due to the intrinsic absorption loss in terahertz region.
