Although the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity is still not clear, recently there are a lot of reports about symmetry breaking and it is considered that clarifying whether time reversal symmetry and inversion symmetry in superconducting material is broken or not is indispensable for understanding that mechanism. In our study, the main purpose is to investigate optical property and symmetry of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi2212) crystal more accurately than past reports using G-HAUP (Generalized High Accuracy Universal Polarimeter) method. G-HAUP method allows us to measure not only linear birefringence and linear dichroism caused by crystal anisotropy but also optical activity and natural circular dichroism caused by inversion symmetry breaking and Faraday rotation and magnetic circular dichroism caused by time reversal symmetry breaking. We measured wavelength-dependence of these properties of Bi2212 at room temperature and investigated symmetry breaking.
