平成21年度に開始された理数系教員（コア･サイエンス･ティーチャー：CST）養成とその支援及び活動による地域の理科教育を支える新システムについて、福井大学および福井県教育委員会が進めている内容を話題として提供しながら、大学と教育委員会そして、地域の理科教育関連施設（例えば、科学館・博物館・都道府県の関連施設等）がどのように連携し、地域の学校を地域ぐるみで支えていくかについて一例を報告する。
