[14p-2Q-15] One-step formation of carbon nanotubes filled with Cu-Ti and formation of nanoparticles via elution of encapsulated metals at low temperature
Keywords:arc-discharge method,carbon nanotubes,nano materials
We succeeded in formation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) filled with Cu-Ti alloy by arc-discharge method using hydrogen gas. Analyses of transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) clarified that carbon nanotubes perfectly filled with amorphous Cu-Ti alloy. The Cu-Ti filled CNTs were heated at 150-1100°C under a high vacuum. Results of TEM indicated that Cu-Ti alloy eluted from CNTs at 200°C. Analyses of XRD clarified that Cu-Ti alloy eluted from CNTs changed amorphous to particles of Cu3Ti crystalline. Moreover results of XPS showed that TiO2 layers were formed on surfaces of the Cu3Ti alloy particles after heating.
