Frequency dependences of velocities and attenuation coefficients of longitudinal waves were measured for chemically tempered glasses by the plane-wave ultrasonic material characterization system. Acoustic properties were measured for a non-tempered glass specimen and a tempered glass specimen, and those of the compressive stress layer were extracted. For the compressive stress layer, the inclination of frequency dependence of the velocity and the attenuation coefficient were small. These results exhibit that the layer is stiffened.
