In this work the energy of a composite passively Q-switched Sapphire/Nd:YVO₄ was increased from 100 μJ up to 1 mJ by heating the gain crystal from 30 C up to 190 C. This increase in output energy is due to emission cross-section dependence on temperature. Also the peak power of this laser achieved 1MW of peak power.
