Diarylethene (DAE) crystal surface shows selective Mg deposition; Mg deposits on the colorless and colored (PSS) surfaces but not on the half-colored surface. This is because the half-colored crystal surface is softened by mixture of colorless and colored molecules. On the other hand, Mg-vapor atoms were harder to deposit on the colorless surface than PSS surface at high temperature (50℃). In this study, we investigated the origin of this phenomenon by an AFM-force curve method. As a result, we found the colorless crystal surface was softened at the high temperature.
