Keywords:heating rubbing,polyfluorene

We prepared ultrathin film of polyfluorene with uniform thickness as a candidate for blue light source with least point-spread profile. Spin-coat polyfluorene film was heated at 80oC and rubbed by a TEFLON sheet. Thickness of the resulting film was estimated as about 220nm (blue) to 280nm (yellow) based on their interference color. Ultrathin film with uniform thickness was obtained. Heating and rubbing brought the molecular orientation 3 : 2: optical absorbance was stronger perpendicular to the rubbing direction. Chloroform solvent annealing did not improve the molecular orientation, as expected. However, the PL peak position redshifted, which implies that the pi-electron energy was stabilized and pi-electron conjugation was more spread due to effective annealing of the polymer conformation.
