[15a-2A-7] Atomic Level Analysis of Amino Acids by Scanning Atom Probe: Valine and Proline
Keywords:valine,proline,binding state
Unique capability of the scanning atom probe is the mass analysis of individual atom and molecule.
Utilizing this capability valine and proline are mass analyzed. Since the atom probe mass analysis proceeds by field evaporating the clustering atoms formed by strongly bound atoms of the molecules, the mass spectrum of the detected ions exhibits the binding state of the molecule. Since the structures of valine and leucine are similar, the mass spectra of the molecules are compared. Proline is formed by pyrolidine and carboxy. The obtained mass spectrum indicates the binding between two groups is not so strong.
