[15a-2M-1] Synthesis and bandgap control of non-stoichiometric CZTS nanoparticles

Non-stoichiometric CZTS nanoparticles with decreasing Cu contents were synthesized via the reaction between metal acetates and a sulfur source in the solution phase. For all compositions, spherical nanoparticles with an average diameter of 5 nm were obtained. Bandgap energies of these non-stoichiometric CZTS nanoparticles increases from 1.56 eV to 1.82 eV with decreasing Cu contents. Such a dependence of bandgap may be attributed to energy band structures of copper chalcogenide semiconductors, in which the top of the valence band is formed by Cu-3d states.
